Looking Ahead at the SSK Assistive Technology Centre

The SSK Assistive Technology Centre has started off with a preservice training for it's staff by leading Assistive Technology Specialist Ms. Bridget Ames, from Minnesotta, USA.

Looking at the opportunities being opened up with Assistive Technology, SSK is moving closer to making mainstreaming possible for persons with special needs.

Prospective and current employers can now benefit from a greater utilization of the underlying potential of the employee with special needs. This enhanced potential is in addition to the already existing loyalty that persons with Special needs always present with regard to jobs.

We are now confident that equality of opportunity and rights for persons with Special Needs is closer to reality than ever.

We look forward to all corporates and employers opening up avenues to utilize the potential of this section of society.

Technology Comes To The Aid of the Disabled

On 24th October 2007, Technology Premier and Giant, IBM joined hands with the Spastics Society of Karnataka to take technology to greater levels of human service. Mrs. Mary Pawlenty, First Lady of Minnesota unvieled the plaque of the new Assistive Technology Centre for Education and Life Skills Training at the SSK. Pacer (Parents Advocacy Coalition for Educational Rights), which is the leading Assistive Technology Centre in thye United States has provided all the Assistive Technology Devices and Training for this Centre.

SSK looks forward to this opening new doors for the persons with special needs in the areas of Education, Communication and Enhancement of Independence.

This is a great day when technology has expanmded it's network to encompass all levels of human abilities. I'm sure this is the beginning of a revolution in the field of disability rehabilitation. It also adds a new perspective to our understanding of human potential and the varied ways in which it can be enhanced.
